The Santaka pepper, also recognized as the Japones Santaka chile pepper or simply 'Asian Hot,' hails from Japan. This pepper variety, classified as a mirasol type (meaning its fruits naturally point towards the sun), exhibits a distinctive cone shape, measuring approximately two inches in length and up to an inch in width, tapering to a teardrop point. When it's time for harvesting, the fruit boasts a thin, slightly wrinkled skin, transitioning from green to a vibrant red hue. The plant itself produces delicate white flowers, making it not only a culinary delight but also an aesthetically pleasing addition to any garden.

Please note that the terms "Hontonka peppers" and "Santaka pepper" are sometimes used interchangeably, and both may be referred to as "Japones Peppers." These peppers share striking visual similarities, although the exact nature of their relationship remains uncertain. The photographs featured here were captured at the New Mexico Chile Pepper Institute Garden.

In terms of flavor, the Santaka pepper offers an intense and straightforward heat. Unlike some peppers with complex flavor profiles, these peppers deliver a pure, uncomplicated spiciness that can be easily balanced with other bold spices in your culinary endeavors.

When it comes to culinary applications, Santaka peppers are highly sought after in Asian cuisine, finding their way into numerous Chinese (particularly Hunan and Sichuan), Japanese, and Southeast Asian dishes. The dried Santaka pepper, in particular, is a valuable ingredient in sauces, chutneys, salsas, sautéed eggplant dishes, and stir-fries. Its compatibility extends to Thai curries, where it harmonizes beautifully with cilantro, garlic, basil, and lemongrass, as well as rich peanut sauces, allowing you to explore a world of diverse and delectable flavors in your cooking.

Inherited Seeds invites you to become part of a tradition that celebrates spice, flavor, and history. Grow your own Heirloom Hot Japanese-Santaka peppers and experience the culinary magic they bring to your kitchen. Inexpensively Cute, Resilient and Durable...
Size: 5 Big Kid, Color: Purple, Size: 5 Big Kid, Color: Purple
Purchased these cheap mesh-like breathable, high quality light-weight canvas material non-reputable, off-brand name sneakers for my stepdaughter because her puma sneakers were wet. My daughter loves them; not only are they her favorite color, she says they're very comfortable and easy to put on. They're easy to put on, with a slip on style and also have tie up for a tighter fit. My daughter also says likes the purple in-sole bubble that looks like a real air bubble but its really hard plastic volcanized to give a nice polished purple color finish. My daughter is happy with them, so I am too. They're well worth the practical cost, I look forward to them lasting a growth period of approximately six months to a year. Highly recommended. Pick you child's favorite color! You'll be happy you did...
